From Gsiesertal Valley – St. Magdalena, Head of the valley (1465 m, refreshment facilities, parking fee) follow trail marker No. 47/48 across the bridge over the Pidig Bach stream. Turn left and after the Schlosser Hof farm turn right. The trail leads along which cattle used to be driven to graze towards the Tscharniet Valley. Follow forest road No. 47 to the Köfler Alm alpine pasture (1808 m, no refreshment facilities). Cross the stream on a narrow bridge to reach the Stumpfalm hut (2000 m, refreshment possibility) after approx. 20 minutes.

The starting point of the hike is located in St. Magdalena in the Gsiesertal Valley.
