From Unterplanken go eastwards, passing the chapel of St. Florian, and ascend along trail no. 91 on the orographic right side of the Finsterbach stream. After about 45 minutes you meet the path coming up from Oberplanken, continue to the right and shortly afterwards turn left towards the Schuier Alm. Here you leave the normal alpine road and ascend directly through the light spruce forest on the left side of the stream. At about 1750 m you cross an alpine road and continue across wide meadows to the Schuier Alm (1958 m). From here there is a wonderful view of the Dolomites.

Alternative: via trail no. 7a – snowshoe hike starting in Dobbiaco/Frondeigen hamlet, Kurter Hof (2 hours 00 min., 3 km, 350 m elevation gain).

The starting point of the tour is located in St. Magdalena in the Gsiesertal Valley.
