Welsberg in South Tyrol

Gateway to the Gsiesertal Valley, lively and steeped in history.

Welsberg lies in the Pustertal Valley, right at the entrance to Gsiesertal Valley, combining established village life with easy access to the surrounding countryside. Around its historic centre, small shops, cafés and traditional inns are part of everyday life, alongside Welsperg Castle, a prominent landmark overlooking the village.

Thanks to its location, Welsberg offers plenty of ways to explore throughout the year. Walking and hiking trails begin around the village. The Gsiesertal Valley cycle route connects directly with the Pustertal Valley cycle route in Welsberg. In winter, you can join the cross-country ski trail into Gsiesertal Valley, with connections towards the Pragser Tal Valley and Upper Pustertal. Taisten and the surrounding mountains are also within easy reach.

It is this combination that gives Welsberg its own character: past and present sit comfortably side by side, different activities are easy to combine, and the village naturally becomes part of your holiday. It is not simply somewhere to visit and look around – you soon find yourself enjoying everyday village life.
